Summary:

In the article, it says the pollution of the Pearl River is very hard. People who live on the bank of the river worry about their life. They say that they could swimming and catch big fishes in the river before, but now, the water has turned dark and black. The author says the Pearl River is no longer used as a normal river, because it has too much trash or dead animal bodies in the river, and it continued for many years. That is because the bank of the Pearl River is a very famous economic status in the southern of China, and there are many companies in there. Among the companies, the blue jean capital company is the most polluting one, and it includes many famous brands in the world. The author says that people buy the jeans for wearing, but they don’t know the jeans may be made by poison. The author also says the satellite images show the evidence of the jean’s companies making a lot of trash. The reason of the pollution is the process of making jeans requires coloration, and it makes a few heavy metal elements in the sewage, so the waste water falls into the river with the tubes. However, the pollution causes many kinds of illness and health problems.

Reaction:

I agree with the author about the pollution of making clothes being very bad for rivers. In my hometown, there was a large river too, and it was very beautiful. After the development of economic, the status of the river becomes bad, many fishes died, the color of the water is more dark and mixed than before.
